Finally vacation

I actually can't remember the last time I looked this much forward to my summer vacation. Also, it's the first vacation in quite a while where I'm actually going somewhere simply for the experience (not to attend anything or such). 3 weeks of experiencing parts of Norway I'm sorry to say I've never seen before (the very north).I've packed my photo gear and hope to be taking some nice snaps along the way, including some of the great bird colonies along the coast. The trip starts with a rather long drive (allthough we're used to this distance from all the trips to family in western norway) from Oslo to Bergen this friday. Then we'll be taking the Hurtigrute ship Polarlys northbound from Bergen on Saturday evening, reaching our target of Kirkenes 7 days later. "7 days, that's a long time!" you might say, and yes it is. But consider this, the distance in a straight line between Oslo and Kirkenes is greater than the one between Oslo and Rome. That's across almost all of Europe. So there's quite some distance to be covered. Anyway. I'd better get to bed, I just thought I'd jot down a link to the route we'll be covering on friday. Friday august 4th 2006 (my birthday, yay! \o/): Oslo -> Bergen (approx 490km) (actually, the route isn't entirely correct as google doesn't let me dictate not to use ferry crossings)

Thanks... I know I'm getting old, birthdays don't really matter much - and when someone asked me how old I turnedI actually had to do the math...

Hm, I hate not being able to update my blog on this trip. I can't believe there hasn't been publicly accessible wifi hotspots in the ports along the way. Heck, even the ship should have a wifi zone.
